Outwork Your Self-doubt
Because shouting affirmations in the mirror won't cut it
We live in a world filled with affirmations, mantras and #PositiveVibesOnly.
Nothing wrong with these, and I often discuss them with clients in therapy. But, we can all agree that there is always something missing even after chanting them for 5 minutes straight.
And that missing part is exactly what Alex Hormozi captured succinctly in this tweet.
The first time I saw this, I got goosebumps! I immediately scribbled it on my notebook, and send screenshots to a few friends. We then met up for coffee to dissect what this meant for each of us, in our work and personal lives.
Since then, we have been outworking our self doubt at every turn. And since then, my confidence has grown in ways I didn’t know were possible.
Now I share it with you as a challenge. Do you struggle with confidence? Is self-doubt crippling your performance?
Drop those self-help books that promise to make you confident in 21 days.
Delete those motivation videos on your phone. You have listened enough.
Get up and go do the work.
You want to become confident as an artist? Start making art. And when you see the work you have done, your confidence will soar. Because there is evidence. This applies to everything you are trying to become.
Start doing what you say you will do. Less talk, more action. Let’s go!
